When a drain is uncovered, it is the perfect size for a hedgehog to fall down and get stuck. People generally don’t check their drains, therefore a hedgehog trapped down a drain might not be found. Drains are unpleasant places full of things like oils, old water and chemicals. A hedgehog caught in a drain would become ill if it spends too much time there.
YOU CAN
- Check drains regularly for any unfortunate hedgehogs who may have fallen down.
- Put a cover like a lid or brick over your drains to block them off from hedgehogs. If you cover your drain, weigh it down with something heavy.
